Globular Cluster NGC 6316

History

The globular Cluster NGC 6316 was discovered by William Herschel on 24 May 1784. He classified it as bright nebula and listed it as I 45 with the notes: «Bright, round, very gradually much brighter in the middle.» [463]

The globular cluster NGC 6316 is located in the constellation Ophiuchus. It is on 11 June in opposition to the Sun. From Switzerland it can best be seen in the months February to September.
